Burek Recipe
Ingredients:
- 500 g flour
- 260 ml lukewarm water
- 15 g salt
- 175 ml oil
- 500 g ground beef
- 1 onion
- Salt, pepper
Preparation:
Dough Preparation:
- Mix the flour, lukewarm water, 40 ml oil, and salt. Knead the dough well until it becomes soft and smooth.
- On a floured surface, roll out the dough to a thickness of 1-2 cm.
- Pour some of the oil into a baking dish (reserve 2 tablespoons for the filling), place the dough in the dish, drizzle with oil, and let it rest for 30-60 minutes.
Filling Preparation:
- Heat two tablespoons of oil in a pan. Add the finely chopped onion and sauté until translucent.
- Add the ground beef, stir, and season with salt and pepper to taste. Cook the meat until it turns golden brown and breaks into small pieces.
Stretching and Filling the Dough:
- Place a tablecloth on your work surface and dust it with flour. Stretch the dough by hand as thinly as possible. If needed, remove any thicker edges around the dough.
- Evenly spread the prepared filling over the stretched dough. Carefully roll the dough into a shape similar to a pancake, then form it into a spiral.
Baking:
- Place the burek in an oiled baking dish and brush the top with the remaining oil.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 190°C (375°F) for about 30 minutes. If the top starts browning too quickly, cover it with aluminum foil.
Enjoy warm, homemade burek that’s perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside!
