Chimichurri is a grill sauce originating from Argentina and Uruguay, but it is now popular throughout South America. It was initially used for the dish Asado but pairs excellently with anything grilled.

Experience the vibrant flavors of South America with our Mussels and Jumbo Shrimp with Chimichurri. This exquisite dish brings together the best of the sea and the bold, zesty notes of traditional chimichurri sauce.

Start by preparing the chimichurri, a versatile Argentinian and Uruguayan grill sauce made from fresh ingredients like olive oil, lemon juice, shallots, garlic, parsley, and a hint of chili. This sauce adds a burst of flavor that perfectly complements the succulent seafood.

Next, fire up your grill to high heat. Once the grill is hot, place the green-lipped mussels and jumbo shrimp, shell-side down, onto the grate. As the seafood cooks, drizzle a generous amount of chimichurri into each shell, letting the sauce seep into the mussels and shrimp. The combination of the smoky grill and the fresh, aromatic chimichurri creates an irresistible aroma.

Grill the shrimp for about 2 minutes on each side, until they are just cooked through and beautifully charred. The mussels will sizzle and bubble as they cook in their own juices, infused with the chimichurri.

Serve the mussels and shrimp on a platter, drizzling additional chimichurri over the top for an extra burst of flavor. Garnish with a side of grilled lemon for a tangy finish and serve any remaining chimichurri sauce on the side.

This dish is perfect for a light, yet flavorful meal that showcases the natural sweetness of the seafood, elevated by the robust and herbaceous chimichurri. Whether you’re hosting a summer barbecue or looking for a new way to enjoy seafood, Mussels and Jumbo Shrimp with Chimichurri is sure to impress.
