Pogacha

Ingredients:

  • 500g of flour (all-purpose flour)
  • 1 cube of fresh yeast (or 1 sachet of dry yeast)
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar
  • 300ml of lukewarm water
  • 50ml of oil (can be sunflower oil, olive oil, or any other oil of your choice)

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, mix yeast, sugar, and a little lukewarm water. Let it sit for a few minutes until the yeast activates.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the activated yeast mixture and the remaining water.
  3. Knead the dough until all the ingredients are well combined and the dough becomes smooth and elastic. If needed, add a little more flour or water to achieve the right consistency.
  4. Cover the bowl with a cloth or plastic wrap and let the dough rest in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
  5. Once the dough has doubled in size, punch it down to release any excess air.
  6. Shape the dough into your desired shape (e.g., round loaf or ball) and place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Let the dough rest for another 15-20 minutes.
  8. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
  9. Before baking, make shallow cuts on the surface of the bread with a knife.
  10. Bake the bread in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until it becomes golden brown.

Once the bread is baked, remove it from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your freshly baked homemade bread!
